When is the best time to go to Tibet
Generally speaking, the best time to travel Tibet is from April to October when the weather is comfortable and oxygen content is high enough which is the peak season for traveling in Tibet. Due to the politically sensitive time of Tibetan New Year, Tibet is closed in most of February and March.

All foreign travelers are required to apply for special Tibet permits as well as a China visa. Foreigners are not allowed to apply for Tibet permits independently. Alien’ s Travel Permit
Aliens’ Travel Permit required to visit the areas which outside Lhasa and issued by Public Security Bureau（PSB).Generally, you can apply for it when you arrive at Lhasa. If you join a small group, the guide will ask for yourpassport and Tibet Travel Permit for submitting both to the Foreign Affairs Division of the PSB to obtain the Aliens’ Permit.
